The media is controlled by a small number of companies primarily driven by the profit and power . Media concentration limits variety, creativity and quality. More socially diverse patterns of ownership can create more varied and adventurous media products.

Produced by Legendary Pictures in partnership with Universal Pictures in 2014.
The film was produced and distributed by a major vertically integrated film studio, this is part of a media conglomerate. It is significant in terms of funding and advertisement of the film, reaching a global audience. Universal is owned by NBC Universal, a Comcast company.

Genre- The genre of this music video is rap/hiphop. We know this through the setting around them and the clothes they wear.

Representation- The music video for Straight Outta Compton has been used to portray the gangs relationship with the police and how they would be treated unfairly because of the colour of their skin. From this, the audience can understand, through stereotypes, what they can expect from the film and it's characters.

Things we expect to see in a trailer:

The official trailer for Straight Outta Compton uses many of the features the we usual expect to see in a trailer. In this trailer we have been introduced to the main characters of the film, the band members of N.W.A. It is because of this that we are able to establish the genre of the film and the basic storyline behind it. Many of the scenes show the main "action" features of he film such as explosions and arrests. The title of the film has been shown at the end of the trailer so that it sticks in the mind of the viewer. The BBFC age certificate has been shown at the start of the film to make the audience aware that the trailer might not be suitable for younger viewers. The trailer has used the names of several of N.W.A's band members in order to create a buzz for the film. This is known as celebrity appeal and has been used to make fans of the 80's band want to see the film. Some features that we expect to see in a trailer have been left out of the trailer such as, the production logo, a voice over and the release date of the film.
