Why Do Producers Use Representation?

Producers use representation to make it easy to simply portray a point in a way that is easy for the audience to understand. As well as this, the producer uses representation for entertainment value and adding narrative to the product. 

In what ways can media products incorporate viewpoints and ideologies?

The way that the mirror presents the tragic events is very short and holds very little facts, suggesting that no one really knows what has happened and they are scrapping for information. The article uses quotes from locals who likely knew the family well but does not give their names. The images that they use to represent the parents of the baby make them appear to be a content and loving couple, driving home the shock and surprise of the attack on the two small children. In comparison to this, the image used to represent the baby makes him seem innocent and vulnerable, evoking sympathy from the audience. The image has been selected for it's high angled shot and the expression on the child's face, making him seem miserable and almost neglected by his parents.
