Key Assessment 5- Aims and Intentions

Key Assessment 5- Aims and Intentions

For this key assessment, I will be talking about my aims and intentions for both my music video and magazine. I will discuss subjects such as cross media production, representation of individuals and my target audience.

As part of the making of my music video I used several different angles and locations. I did this because I knew that it would add interest to the music video and would keep the audience focused on my work, stopping them from getting bored. I continued this with my magazine by using several different locations, angles and techniques to produce the photographs to accompany my magazine article.

Following this, I used several key media terms in my music video such as representation which has helped me to keep a clear link between my video and magazine. In relation to this, I have included several terms surrounding magazines. In my magazine, I have included pull quotes, stand first, captions, barcodes, headlines, main images, and target audience.

In both my magazine and my music video, the groups of people that I chose to represent through an individual, were those who break the law and take drugs, simply not very nice people. In my music video, I used the subjects outfit to represent him and the style of the music video I was trying to create. I used the same clothing in the shoots for my magazine photographs in order to create a sense of consistency. My aim for the style of my music video was to make it seem like the subject was running away from someone or something. I did this by making the subject appear shifty and on edge. In connection with this, I based the cover of my magazine on an outlaw poster. I did this because I wanted to show that the subject of my music video was on the run from the police because he had broken out of prison. The magazine has been used to anchor the meaning of my music video so that the audience can better understand my intentions.

My intended target audience was based around my song choice. I selected a song entitled ‘Breathe’ by Pink Floyd. I picked this song because the band was most popular in the 70’s, with their target audience being those who are in the late 30’s to early 40’s. I also targeted my intended audience through my magazine by continuing the criminal themes on my front cover. This meant that I was able to keep a strong theme running through my cross media production. I designed the magazine to appeal towards a more mature audience by using black and white photographs and making the cover image seem intimidating.

The production of my music video conforms to industry standards because it uses themes such as criminal activity, running from the police, and implying use of psychedelic drugs in order to represent a person who has a troubled past. As well as this, I have used the idea of being a prisoner on the run to relate back to Pink Floyd and their rebellions ways. I used the prisoner breaking out of his cell as a metaphor for the way that Pink Floyd have subverted from industry standards and broken out of the normalities that the music industry often demands. I have continued these subversive themes throughout my magazine in the style of a wanted poster as my front cover.

Digital convergence means that two or more media platforms that were originally separate and have now come together for unified development.

I have used this with in my recent project because I have created and brought together my music video and my magazine, using steady themes through both so that they would be recognisably related. This is an example of digital convergence because my magazine has been used to advertise the music video to a wider audience. This results in an advance for my music video because more people are likely to view it once they read the article. The magazine has been used to reach out to people who may not have ordinarily watched the music video and encourage them to watch it, thus making more money for the producer of both the magazine as well as the video as well as the artist.

Representation In Attitude

How far are the representations constructed in the set texts of Zoella and Attitude stereotypical? -Underline key terms -Define key terms Stereotypes- A construction of ideas surrounding a person or a group that has been widely accepted by society. these are created when knowledge is lacking or unattainable and the substitution of thoughts and opinions is implemented.  This often leads to misjudgement and unfair discrimination towards certain groups.
