How can different audiences interpret this product in different types of ways?

Introduction-
Cult audience-
Niche audience-
Specialised audience-
Conclusion-

Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation has been created for several different audiences such as a cult audience, a devoted group of fans who are loyal to the game and buy the different variations of the games. The game also appeals to a niche audience, a group of people who have specific wants, needs and interests when playing video games. The third and final audience that Assassins Creed 3: Liberation appeals to is a specialised audience, a non-mass collection of people in a particular social group (for example, young female players).

The cult audience of the game includes loyal fans of the game who have played every variation of Assassins Creed. The fans will interpret this game in a more bias way than a niche or specialised audience. The cult audience will have high expectations of the game and expect to see the signature traits of the game. Assassins Creed has always had a male as the main character of their story and decided to take a risk with the addition of a female main character. Based on some reviews of the game, the cult audience of Assassins Creed 3: Liberation enjoyed the game and felt that it had lived up to their expectations even with the switch of the main character.  One reviewer said, "Favourite game of all time, this series is inclusive of just one Templar master but Aveline remains an awesome character." This review shows that although Assassins Creed took the risk of introducing a female character, the comprehensive views of the game have been welcomed by its cult audience.

The second group of people that Assassins Creed 3: Liberation has targeted is the niche audience. A niche audience is a subgroup to the cult audience and is typically a small group of people in comparison to the cult audience. The niche audience for Assassins Creed 3: Liberation would likely be female gamers. This is because women will feel that they have been well represented within the game that they are playing, making it more enjoyable for them. This can be linked to Stuart Hall's theory of representation because the media product has used the characters actions to construct a strong protagonist and therefore a well-built representation of women.

The third type audience that media products such as Assassins Creed 3: Liberation want to target is a specialised audience. A specialised audience is defined by a particular social group with specific interests. In this instance, it is my opinion that the specialised audience for Assassins Creed 3: Liberation is a group of people between the ages of 18-25. I also believe that the specialised audience does not incorporate gender but instead focuses on the genre of the games they play. Assassins Creed can fall under more than one genre of video games such as action-adventure, stealth, war or battle style games. This means that these specific genres of games are enjoyed by the specialised audience, which has resulted in more sales of the Assassins Creed 3: Liberation.

In conclusion, it is clear that Assassins Creed 3: Liberation has used aspects of their media product in order to appeal to more people. As a result, Assassins Creed has gained further sales beyond its cult audience of devoted fans. This is gained through the niche and specialised audience.

Zoella- Audience (Clay Shirky- End Of An Audience)

Zoella- Audience Zoella's target audience: Gender: Female Age: 7-13 Ethnicity: White, English Social-economic status: Middle class Zoella does not have a mass audience as she targets a niche audience, a specific group of people.  Emotive content- the show appeals to its female audience through narratives that engage with subject matter emotionally. Zoella continuously tells us how she 'feels' about the problems she faces. Zoella foregrounds stereotypical female based activities in her presentation: fashion, make-up, relationships. Costume stereotypically feminine- feminine colour palette deployed in mise-en-scene use of pets and pet orientated references (stereotypical little dog). Presenter constructs a version of ideal beauty- highly stylised, lot of make-up, attention pain to outfits. Intimate confessional tone- creates a female character. Representation In Attitude

How far are the representations constructed in the set texts of Zoella and Attitude stereotypical? -Underline key terms -Define key terms Stereotypes- A construction of ideas surrounding a person or a group that has been widely accepted by society. these are created when knowledge is lacking or unattainable and the substitution of thoughts and opinions is implemented.  This often leads to misjudgement and unfair discrimination towards certain groups.
